They gave us a field to play on. What came with it was so much more.
More than a ball field
Our Lady of Prompt Succor holds its family day and its Easter egg hunt on these grounds. Families hold reunions and birthday parties here, and charity events are run from here. Some of it is booked a year out, and some of it is a phone call the week before.
Send us your memories
Ball has been played at this park since 1980, and most of the photos and memories from those years are still scattered across shoeboxes and old phones instead of somewhere everybody can see them. We are putting together a real collection covering every era of Schneider Park: teams, tournaments, opening days, concession-stand crews, all of it.

About the Park
One field since 1980, and a whole lot of volunteers. Here is the story.
A ballpark built by the people who use it
Every year the park brings youth softball and football to hundreds of local kids in the Sixth Ward of Lafourche Parish. The coaches, the umpires, and the board do it because these are their kids and their neighbors' kids.
The people who kept it going
The park runs because people gave it their time. Dragging the infield before anyone else showed up. Working the concession stand until the last car left. Coaching long after their own kids had aged out of the program.
We are putting up their names. If someone belongs on that wall, tell us.
Our 2026 softball season
That works out to roughly one volunteer for every four kids.
